If you are planning for the future definately DMX, because down the road you will never know when you may want to do something with those lights besides fast, slow, strobe :)
You can get DMX capable lights with the manufacturers controller which can get you by until you want to go full fledged DMX.
What is a price range you are willing to spend?
thanks for the advice, i was thinkin of renting the stuff at first (its dead cheap at my local dj store) and with the pay from the booking and my friends who will be dj'ing with me will chip in so it is quite a bit! HOPEFULLY! :D
these are the packs that i have seen;

I used to use the Martin MX-1, and then they came out with the MX-4, the difference is one has the 250w halogen, one has the 150w arc stream lamp..
I bought two of the mx-4's and took them back because they weren't as bright as the halogen. mx1's are about 450$ each US
That being said, the msd200 and 250/2 are WAY brighter than both of the above.
The ones you listed look ok, check to see if they have a seperate shutter, that is not on a wheel, if they don't have a shutter that is seperate you will get weird strobing and blackouts..
I would have to take a look to determine if they were worth it, but they seem like they are ok fixtures.
thanks! if i find anything better i will say so but the links i showed you are my choices! :D

Yea, That's the mistake I made when I first started buying my lighting.
I knew I was going to be in it for the long run, But had no clue what lighting to get.
I was thinking DMX lighting was for club's and stuff.
So, I got me some effect's lighting.
Like 8 light's of it.
WOW I done two gig's, And you had to LOOK at the damn light's to even see them :squint:
I sent them all back, And got my two DMX navorgator's, And it was not only cool, But it was brighter then all 8 of my old effect lighting.
Now, All my light's are DMX other then my par can's.

To start with I'd buy lighting that has a DMX conrol interface but also has internal programs, that way you can let it run it's internal programs until you upgrade to a DMX controller. Look for lighting that can also be synchronised without DMX as you can just hook them together and have a synchronised lightshow before you buy your DMX controller.
