Getting ready to get into the Global truss movement. Which base plates do you guys use and why. I'm either going with the Aluminum 30X30A or the Steel 3x3. Definately going with the 16 top plates when I use them. I can see myself putting moving heads on top and or monitors when used as totems. Wondering if the Steel ones are over kill or if the Aluminum ones are enough to hold monitors. Thanks guys!!!

The Steel baseplates are over kill. A single one weighs 90 pounds alone, compared to 30 lbs for the aluminum one.

The Aluminum ones should be fine. You can always purchase some sandbags to place at the back should you feel you need them. I would rather carry 2 30 pound sandbags up some stairs rather than a giant steel metal plate.

You probably don't want the 3x3 steel as they weigh in over 90 pounds.

Either the 30x30 aluminum or the 24x24 steel will work for you. Feel free to email me for dealer pricing on our ProX line of compatible 12" box trussing and fittings.

It depends on your application.

The 24x24 steel plates are quite stable and plenty to hold just about any totem with a flatscreen. As mentioned you can use sandbags if you feel it's not stable enough.

The 30x30 aluminum plates are actually even more stable, even though they are lighter.
