Hi guys,

I recently bought another 1200 for cheap and the rubber base is pretty scratched up. I was thinking of respraying the whole thing and was wondering if anyone on here had any tips for the job.

Thanks

Try contacting Nicadraus. His thread here (http://www.djforums.com/forums/showthread.php?292-Works1200-The-Technics-1200-1210-specialist-refurb-thread) shows him repainting the rubber base on multiple 1200s.

You can use flat black vinyl paint for leather & rubber. They are mostly available at automotive paint shops. They are commonly used for car interiors. Mix is 30% acrylic paint and 60% acrylic thinner. 4-5 coats. Let each coat dry for 7-10 minutes before another application. Some shops also offer them in rattle can sprays which will be easier to use. But I prefer mixing my own because I get the result I want.

Good luck! :)

Thanks Nicadraus. Did you do any kind of prep work to the base (sanding and such)?

Wet sanding with 1000c grit sandpaper would be nice before spraying. :)
