I'm currently interested in tinkering around with speakers in the hopes of not only learning about their components, but possibly making my own. Any websites/links/books you guys would suggest to help jumpstart my venture?

Check out the BFM cabs - http://www.billfitzmaurice.com/

They're pretty decent cabs

www.partsexpress.com has really cheap (and expensive) drivers and parts so you can mess around with. I think they list all the specs required for proper airspace requirements and info like that listed with each part they sell.

http://www.diysoundgroup.com/ another good site geared more towards home speakers but have a number of kits using compression drivers.

Currently I use nothing but BFM. The price to proformence is perfect.
