I recently acquired an American Audio DX4 preamp/mixer for my home stereo setup (needed a phono preamp) but it is missing the power supply. I would love to utilize this classic mixer but finding the proprietary power supply (18V, 500 Ma AC thru a 5-pin connector) has so far been fruitless. Anyone have an old spare you could part with or suggest a resource I might contact?

Thanks!

I emailed and they replied that because it is a discontinued model they do not have parts. Found nothing on ebay. I'm hoping there's someone out there with an extra power supply.

you can convert that crap 5 pin to a 2 pin by opening up the unit and finding which of the pins
are hot and neutral, here's a 18vdc wall wart

you're going have to do some soldering, but its not major surgery connecting the hots and neutrals
together

and hooking it up to something like this

like everything else in life its hot or neutral, there's no bi lifestyle in electrical schematics

Thanks for the ideas and links. I have been starting to think the same way and have some friends who can probably help me with the conversion. I'll probably wait a few days to see if anyone happens to have the original power supply but as weird as that thing is, conversion is a likely solution.
