Lately i've started to have some trouble with my Macbook Pro Hard Drive Getting real full.
I dont have a laptop purely for djing as im not gigging yet, but either way music is starting to take up a significant away of space.
I was wondering if anyone has experience keeping their music on a hard drive and playing it in virtual DJ.
I currently use iTunes playlists to keep my music organized, is their any way i could keep that configuration while keeping the music on the hard drive.

How much space are we talking? You can get 128GB thumb drive for under $60 now and no moving parts.
I hear about people using external hard drives all the time and if you have over 128 GB in your collection, then yeah, go that way. Also, clone it so you have a backup.

So should i load my whole library onto a large thumb drive which i will have to buy, or use a external hard drive with moving parts which i wont have to buy.
I hate apple for removing E-Sata from the macbook pro. I have a 2 terabyte harddrive at home with E Sata but with my current laptop i would have to use firewire.

A) FireWire 800 is MORE than fine for music. I can index search songs in spotlight in the blink of an eye and its even fine for HD video processing in Final Cut Pro X, with all my 500GB - 2TB drives.
B) Macbook Pro's never had eSATA, they just use to have an express card port that you could get an eSATA card for, which again isn't really necessary.
C) Also, a hard drive is more versatile and reliable. Flash drives can be finicky, have less life expectancy, and lower capacity/$.

The express card is what i meant by E-Sata, but your point is valid.
I still think the express card (E-Sata SUpport) was useful, especially for HD Video. Transferring 4 hours of AVCHD video with firewire 800 is not a quick task.
For music, i think i will be fine with firewire 800, and i think thats what im going to do.
