Hey Guys
My dad runs a big golf tournament and on the last night he is having a ventriliquist or however you spell it!
He wants me to find a light, that is white, to light him up. One really bright one, but preferably 2.
I would like to to be able to go other colours so I can use it for my djing after the golf, but it just has to be white on the night
Am I looking at par cans or strips with dmx programming or what are my options.
Preferably from a Sydney website such as this

Thanks

Thanks Bill
Will I be able to make them just white in colour?
Thanks

Yes, you can get a good white with practice.

Practice?
Do you mean through dmx
Does it just have a preset white on the back?

There are preset colors, but I usually find them not quite to my liking for a natural front light. You can create custom colors via the control panel on the fixture or via DMX.

Do you actually have them, are they good for general dj use?

Without the amber diodes, you probably won't be happy with the face tones.

Face Tones?
Sorry for all the questions, I just want to be sure
The people from that shop said the 2nd option would be a lot brighter

Usually, a ventriloquist wants natural lighting so his face and that of his dummy can be seen. Achieving a quality white light with a RGB LED fixture is very difficult and tends to be harsh at best. The addition of amber makes for a much warmer, more natural white light.

Yes, the tri-diode fixture will be brighter but not necessarily better.

The requested light has been changed
My dad wants a actual beam of light on and around the ventriloquist and on the stage for where speeches are made

He wants a white beam, so what are my options
Thanks

Doesn't the venue (Country club?) have a follow spot on the grounds?

If not, a Chauvet Followspot 400G runs less than $300 (US) in the USA. And a Chauvet LED Followspot 75 runs about $500 (US).

From the web site you listed, this is the least expensive option that will do what's required.

Its in a golf club and the whole room is flat
Apart from the stage which will be raised a little
So I cant use smoke and haze, I need a white beam of light onto a person, and I would like to use the light for mobile djing afthttps://www.storedj.com.au/products/CHA-SPOTLED150
Could that work if i put it up high on a t bar or truss?, and program it into a white circle?
Thankss

Yes, that could work but what are you going to do if the actor starts to walk around?

Yes, that could work but what are you going to do if the actor starts to walk around? It's a ventriloquist act, they almost always do their whole act sitting down. If the country club doesn't have a follow spot & it's just for this one time use. A truss mounted light might be preferable.

It's a flat room, I assume with no gallery, since he didn't mention one. And a follow spot needs to be higher than the tallest (standing) person in the room. So some sort of platform would be needed to be built for the follow spot & the operator to stand on. My concern with a truss mounted spot light would be; From the back of the room to the ventriloquist act on stage, will the white circle of light be big enough?
