For anyone that doesn't know Ill give a quick intro,
I run a Radio show 2x a month, 1 of these shows is a regular collection of my favourite tracks, and the other is part of my "Tribute Series" where I select an artist that I like, contact them, put together a selection of my favourite tracks and remixes and co-host the show with them,
ok so here's my idea and I would like to get your thoughts because its something that Im normally against.
As a change from selecting one of my favourite producers, I was thinking about contacting one of my favourite "Vocalists" instead.
Thing is, I would never normally spin a 60 minute all vocal set, what are your thoughts on this? Would you get sick of listening to vocal after vocal for 60 minutes?
Any thoughts on how I could do this without the bordem factor?

Vocalists only really specialize in one thing - their voice. As such, they typically aren't don't create new grooves or genres of music. They sing... which is great. But IMHO focusing on the music of vocalists itself isn't very interesting... because most radio stations play songs.
There has to be a hook for the audience. If you're into EDM, surely there's something that EDM does with vocalists that no other genres do? You could focus on one aspect (i.e. glitching up the vocals) and play 2-3 songs that use that technique. Talk about another technique and then play 2-3 songs that show that. With 5-6 techniques, you have a show.

I spun a two hour vocal set and have gotten quite a bit of feedback from people but most of those people do not spin and I would say do not pay as close attention to the mixes as you or anyone else who spins would. I wish I had thrown in at least a few instrumentals and not just vocal after vocal. You can easily pull it off though. I think the issue you might run into is the same vocalist though. I know I wouldn't be too thrilled about hearing the same person's voice (assuming you can find enough of their tracks).

Yea Im just worried about the whole listening to the "same voice" for 60 minutes, I could throw in a few dub remixes of their tracks to break thing up a little,
On the other hand, people buy Artists Albums to listen to the same voice for 15 or so tracks, so whats the difference?
Any input on this would be much appreciated.

Good point, on the flip side though, how many people sing a long (or know) all the tracks of vocalists they like and that they can sing along to (butchered that sentence)? In addition, I think this is the dividing line between attentively listening to a mix and having it as ambient sound. I like variety in people's mixes. If I do not know all the lyrics to a track I will not be as attentive as a listener. Even on some of my favorite artists that I listen to all the time, I lose the attention I give to the music. Furthermore, I also have very few artists that I will listen to their entire album and enjoy it without skipping tracks or not paying any attention. If you have someone like Nadia Ali who most people know most of her tracks and like them that may work.
I am definitely looking forward to whatever you come up with.

I like the idea but I don't think I would enjoy listening to a full mix of vocal tracks. Perhaps it's just me, but I would get bored relatively quickly with this kind of thing. I don't think we really listen to this kind of music for vocalists, it's more about groove and vibe.

Yea me too, I would usually have 1/2 max vocal tracks in my sets but I just thought about trying something a little different, I was just thinking aloud to get some ideas. Do you think that it would make it any more listenable if I split every 3rd track as a non vocal,

I wouldn't go over half personally.

I just realised this "1/2" reads as half, I meant I usually never use more than one or two vocal tracks maximum in a set, but as this is would be a Tribute to the Female vocalist I would need to do upto 12, I think I will put it togeter as just music before I email her and have a listen to it to get a feel for what its like, if its too much then I can adjust.

Maybe if it was a really lovable and diverse vocalist. Ana Criado comes to mind!
Even Armin's newer track with her is wonderful.

And of course Markus's "Surreal" is great too.

Yeah, Suissa was Perception. My favorite vocal track of all time.
