View Full Version : What gear do you REGRET getting RID of the most?

This thread was inspired by the one about gear you regret purchasing. Is there anything that, if you could turn back the hands of time, you would have NEVER sold and or traded? For me, it was my b52 v2 setup. I initially bought it because I was going to try my hand at the mobile thing (absolutely HATED doing mobile) and then it kind of just sat for a long time. I'd occasionally bring it out to do a party or two for friends, but that was it. So, long story short, I sold it. Now.... I really wish I hadnt because there have been quite a few parties that have come up that I could really have used the PA for... doh! :)

Yours?

My black mk2s and my m5g. And SSL the second time around. Basically, everything that I sold to try the midi thing. I should have just bought a second m5g, sold the mk2s, and kept buying vinyl. I think I'd be better off.

Not a bad replacement. It's what I'm trying to get. Which leads me to the point that I will soon regret selling my Kontrol S4 and and my Korg Zero 4 :(

My Citronic PD45s. Giving those away broke my heart . Despite having Technics I ended up buying another one later to use as a third deck

Back in 2001, when I was moving to Dallas. I swore I would never DJ again. So I sold my mixer and my Technics 1200 MKII's. I miss my MKII's. When I decided to go back into DJing 2.5yrs ago and was buying gear again, I was so surprised at how much they have jumped up in price. So I went with the Denon 3700's instead. I am now looking to buy a set of 1200's again, although the Stanton ST 150 are looking pretty good right now.

It's a toss up between my bass rig (Eden 410/115) and my techs. I don't really DJ any more, but I do miss them for fiddling around. Did keep my mixer though. :D

Many many moons ago I had a rudimentary PA rig built around a pair of dual 15" speakers and a QSC amp. I wish I still had that stuff.

I had to sell my Moog Voyager that I was so happy with back when during DJF 1.0 because of car troubles :( I think Divercity knows what it feels like too

Moogy the moog, I shall come back for you!

Coming in close second were my two brand new mk5's.... :-( I even lost money on em too after they stopped being made

I convinced myself that I didn't like the fader-style EQs. God, I wish I would have given myself a little more time to get used to it!!! It was (is) an incredible mixer!

An old 19" Gemini mixer, a Rane (Empath) mixer, an old pair of Bose (901) speakers, a pair of old Peavey (SP1) speakers, an old Yamaha (DX7) keyboard.

I regret selling my Vestax PMC Pro 05SL / SL1. Instead of buying the 57 I should've bought a DJM-800. I hate having to go to a club and unplug their mixer

Man, that sucks. That's one of the most gorgeously designed mixers I've seen. It's a pity they're not made anymore.

Also, uhh…sorry about the m5gs. I loved mine and want new ones.

I've always wanted a go at the PMC-55. One of the very few mixers I'd even consider trading my PMC-37 for and probably still end up regretting it.

Like I just mentioned above, I'd let go of probably every other piece of equipment before the 37. Once you get used to the fader EQ's, she is teh sex :D
Other than that I don't have any regrets about equipment I've sold or let go of as most of it was low-end junk, but there were definitly a few records I regret selling :(.

I had a chance to get a PMC-37PRO for a good price, but passed on it because I was so comfortable with my PMC-07PRO. I feel sort of bad about it, but I still rock my 07 today, and I bought that mixer in early 01. The only thing I've changed is the xfader, I put a P+G in for a cleaner, sharper cut and better feel than the PCV. Would I like a PMC-37PRO? Sure, but I still have the first nice mixer I bought in very good condition and it's lasted over 10 years, so I'm not gutted by the near miss.

If you've seen the V2 for $2,000, that store is over priced. The MSRP on the V2 is only $1,599.99.

Novation Launch Pad. It sat around a lot but it's only when I sold it that I fully understood it's capacity and ability to be a very creative tool. Oh well it wasn't that expensive in the end.
