I don't have a nice video that I can make a tutorial on BUT I can load pictures and give you a general idea of what you need to do if you want to complete this mod yourself... I got this idea from HERE (http://scotched.tumblr.com/post/943312242/how-to-install-serato-sl1-inside-your-mixer) and just improvised it to work for me b/c I use TSP

Step 1: Get access to main board

Place mixer securely on it's face where you are looking at the bottom. There are 6 screws. 4 on the bottom and one on each side of the bottom plate. Once screws are off plate lifts off. I like to sit the mixer on the plate as pictured below:

http://i1282.photobucket.com/albums/a529/DjLiquitATL/inside07_zpse4690504.jpg

Step 2: Identify your solder points

reference my picture above with this picture. I always get rid of the old solder and use new solder BUT make sure you only do one post at a time so rca's stay snug like they are supposed to

http://i1282.photobucket.com/albums/a529/DjLiquitATL/07wireLayout_zpsb5485f0b.jpg

Step 3: remove back plate and cut holes for usb, power jack, & new rcas

there are three screws on the top of the backplate

three screws between the rca jacks

two screws for the power switch

and hexagon nuts on the TRS outputs and mic outputs

once all are removed the plate comes right off. Here is a picture of what I suggest you get cut based on space inside the mixer and best possible location for the ports

http://i1282.photobucket.com/albums/a529/DjLiquitATL/D17224BE-61EB-4515-B3AF-21BD419B23B6-276-0000002383134946_zps25ffb322.jpg

if you do not have experience I suggest finding a buddy who does or have a machine shop cut for you. The hardest part of the mod is cutting the backplate!

* I would also suggest marking your RCA's so you know which ones are which i.e. phone/line, left/right, channel 1/2...for me this is easily done with zip ties. You can buy small colored zip ties to make it work better for you

If you have any questions let me know. This shoud also work for a SL3 box which is about the same size and has the same amount of in/outs...the only problem you might run into is the location of the rcas

wire maintenance is also important. I think the above picture is pretty good BUT you need to be careful when installing audio interface B/C its snug. It fits perfectly right above the faders as pictured. Make sure you are careful and do not damage a capacitor or resistor in the process. Do not force anything to fit.

Here is a LINK (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812200477) to the USB adapter that you will need to purchase http://images10.newegg.com/ProductImageCompressAll300/12-200-477-01.jpg

here are the links to the radio shack power jacks:

DC Power Jack (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103611)

http://rsk.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pRS1C-2266171w345.jpg

Power Plug (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103612&locale=en_US)

http://rsk.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pRS1C-2266172w345.jpg

here is the CUTTING tool (http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1289324) http://ace.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pACE2-982963dt.jpg

I use with my dremel (http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4307012).

http://ace.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pACE3-8176888enh-z7.jpg

It cuts 3/8-1/2" straight CLEAN lines. I originally completed mod with a round drill bit BUT it's to inconsistent and hard to be exact. This tool takes 1/2 the time, is cheap, and more accurate for a more STOCK and CLEAN modification... I still suggest drilling small holes to form your shape so cutting is more like connect the dots. This will give you at least a couple uses out of the dremel cutting tool until it gets worn out

PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE...I would buy a new backplate from here (http://www.vstservice.com/p-129-vestax-pmc-07-pro-replacement-back-plate.aspx) and practice on the current one until you perfect the cutting skills. Also, CUT the INSIDE part of the backplate so that you do not mess up the backplate cosmetically if your drill or dremel drifts

you will also need 3 sets of rca cables (http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/CRA201AU/) and black wire for power plug...

I also smooth/shape out the cut with a dremel grinding tool. It is hard to cut an exact hole out BUT better to cut smaller then you need then shape out with grinding tool. You will need a grind tool to shape out the power jack since the top is rounded.

Nice job.
It seems to fit in there perfectly. Did you consider taking the Audio 6 apart and intalling it without the housing?

I actually did attempt to take apart the interface on my original install BUT NI interface is a bitch to get apart and the solder points are smaller then SL1... I figured this way you can easily reverse the mod OR you can place a SL3 box inside.

I just bought a Rane SL-57, going to see the space available and prob install my interface that I did take apart...just a side note...if you install an interface inside a mixer make sure to separate the interface from the main-board with plastic or small piece of poster board so it doesn't short out the main board. For the 07 install the interface doesn't touch the boards at all...still a good safety precaution to protect your investment

Here are some updated pictures showing that it does supply power to interface:

that would be cool BUT I need to finalize the mod and do a more detailed tutorial once everything is completed and working 100%. There will be a piece of paper separating the interface from touching the mixer board once complete as a safe guard

UPDATE: originally completed mod to try to get rca booth output BUT it only works in internal mode which defeats the purpose of a DVS setup...so I removed them.

I think the booth output will work for a audio8/10 interface but they will not fit in a 2 channel mixer...i may try again in a pioneer 4 channel mixer soon

Good Job. I like the addition of the power jack as well. It's good to see that this idea has been improved upon.

Thank you... When I first saw your post I was amazed... But running traktor for a good minute... Plus I had a old 07 pro sitting around... Brought it back to life... Now all I need is a innofader and I'm going to prob sell my gold one

Nice one DjLiquitATL. I've seen the serato one before but just came across your thread for the audio 6 last night. I used this this thread as inspiration to do the same to my audio 6 in my XS-8. Hope you don't mind if I post install pictures.

XS-8 is huge! More than enough space.

Picture for reference in case anyone attempts this mod.

Used top portion of Audio 6 to be used as insulation for the bottom. Black side panels were used as well for support.

Used the velcro that came with my innofader to keep it in place; on bottom and sides

I just ordered the usb cable /power port and have to wait for those to come in order for the mod to be done. Thanks to DjLiquitATL for the inspiration, mounting idea and cabling idea.

No prob... xs-8 was my first scratch mixer. I disassembled audio 6 my first install BUT thought it would be easier to sell if it was reversible. I like the velcro idea!

Xs8 has so much room you can almost fit 2 interfaces in

That makes sense. I kind of debated on whether to keep it together or not as it's a solid interface, but ended up taking it apart. Did you ever go as far as rerouting the headphone jack/volume pot and rewiring the leds to show up on the mixer for any of the interfaces you have modified into mixers?

no, I only use two decks and the sampler so it wasn't really necessary to route the headphone jack b/c it routes correctly already through the mixer... the led readings work fine too as long as your program pots are on default settings...I don't use auto gain/etc when I mix
