Also while in Home Depot tonight, I checked their rental department. Nobody I've found rents Honda EU generators, but HD had a Briggs & Stratton P2000. link here (http://www.briggsandstratton.com/generators/portable-generators/detail/?name=&id=%7B25504E3F-9402-4812-8EA4-28A397F2F643%7D)

In the Q&A section, they say the P2000 is 62 db at 23 feet. The Honda EU2000 publishes a spec of 59 db but they don't say at what distance. Would it be fair to say they're at least in the same ballpark? 24 hr. rental is a little over $40 which seems quite reasonable and I notice the EU2000 MSRP is over $1000 so I would expect rental of that unit to be about double the B&S.

you can talk comfortably to someone standing right beside you in a normal voice while the eu2000 is running between the two of you. 3 db is a hell of a lot louder, and probably measured further away. if you ever go to a flea market or swap meet and someone has a little generator running that you really cant hear, its a honda eu
