But don't say the Ecler Nuo 3!

Anyway, I've been using the same mixer ever since I started. It's served me well but it has a few annoying flaws I just am tried of living with. I have some cash to throw around but my biggest limitation is size and the current mixer is the perfect size for my desk. Ideally one with DSP/effects as well.

Here's my current mixer:
http://www.amazon.com/Stanton-RM-3S-DJ-Mixer-channels/dp/B00006FXFE

More importantly here are it's dimensions:
Product Dimensions: 10.2 x 15.8 x 4.5 inches ; 6.8 pounds

Edit:
Comparison with current runner-ups.

RM-3s (CURRENT)
-Size: 10.20"w x 4.50"h x 15.80"d inches ; 6.8 pounds
580 Pro
-Size: 12.83"w x 3.94"h x 15.98"d (326 mm x 100 mm x 406 mm)
PMC-280
-Size: 10.35"w x 3.93"h x 14.27d

Rane Empath?

Forgot to mention I also want one with DSP, but I am open to both for now. I've been recommended this one before.

Vestax PCV 275?

You can plug an effects unit onto it since it has sends and returns.

The only 10", three channel mixer with effects that I am aware of is the Numark X9 (current version) or the dxm09 (older version). Other than that, you will be looking at mixers with send/return loops.

The deal breaker (at least for me) with the 275 is that it only has a master out. I'd look at the 175 which has master and rec out. Another option at that price range would be a Stanton m.304.

exactly, besides Numarks there are no 3 channels with effects.

So I'm just gonna say it anways:

Ecler nuo 3.0 :zany:

Thanks so far guys.

My current mixer actually has send-returns but what people don't tell you is there is massive phasing issues. Which is great if you want to recreate the 70s disco flanger/phasing effects using a reel-to-reel, but if you want to use, say, a filter or something, you're screwed. :/

The send/return loop on my Ecler was awesome. Seriously.

Vestax PMC-280? It's compact (10.35" W x 3.93" H x 14.27" D), has some onboard effects, and two outputs with independent level controls. It has four channels, but it hits all your other specs.

Yes!

Now we're talking! Although I did some measurements and I think I could just maaaybe fit it's upscale 4ch cousin the Vestax PMC-580PRO. The price difference is also day and night, but it might be worth giving a shot in order to avoid getting caught up in mixer-musical chairs that many DJs on here play.

Edit:
Let me arrange this nicely:

RM3-s
-Size: 10.2"w x 4.5"h x 15.8"d inches ; 6.8 pounds
580 Pro
-Size: 12.83"w x 3.94"h x 15.98"d (326 mm x 100 mm x 406 mm)
PMC-280
-Size: 10.35"w x 3.93"h x 14.27d

I have a Rane Empath and I absolutely love its sound. I don't use it much anymore as I've moved on to controllers. But it's a great unit.

The PMC-580 is a phenomenal mixer. I've had mine for a couple of years now, and I love it. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about it.

Incidentally, I saw them on sale at musiciansfriend.com the other day. Here's a link: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/vestax-pmc-580pro-4-channel-digitaldjmixer

You didn't state weather new or used so I'll just throw it out there: try to find a clean, used PMC-37. 4 channels, 3 lines, matrix assign, and dual send / return. You may not like the slider EQ's though. I've had mine for almost 7 years and love it .

Ecler nuo 3.0 :zany:

To be perfectly honest, +1. Back to the last time I was after a new mixer, the nuo 4 ranked #2.

I'm no expert on stanton mixers so I can't comment on it. Good point as more outputs are better indeed. Hence why I would never buy the lower pioneer range. Like you put it: dealbreaker...

Can i ask why you don't want a nuo 3? The 580 pro is a mothership in size and weight so I don't see how that made it up there either?

Depends on what you need it for, but really, Empath and Nuo 3.0 are a class above all the other mixers mentioned. That is, if you value quality, sound and feel above all else (as you should).

Empath and Nuo are great, I see no reason not to get one of 'em... Unless your budget can't manage that.

That's because you're doing it wrong and don't realize what an effects send is. Hit me up on MSN and I'll show you how to properly work an effects send without any phasing.

Sorry guys had a paper to write alllll day yesterday.

I found one for 1600, but yikes is that steep. I may settle for something else.

Yeah I would be hard pressed to mix on EQs like that, plus it's not much different form my current mixer.

The RM-3s is pretty similar to the Vestax PCV 275 anyway, and it has both record and master out. Nuo 3 Mk2 and Evo 4 are looking pretty good right now but I'm not sure about size on the 4. Would love an Ecler mixer but most don't fit on my desk, hence why I assume I want a 3Ch.

Can i ask why you don't want a nuo 3? The 580 pro is a mothership in size and weight so I don't see how that made it up there either?

The 580 is surprisingly compact for a 4ch with effects, just look at those sweet dimensions. Nuo 3 doesn't have effects which is what I'm after in a new mixer.

Empath and Nuo are great, I see no reason not to get one of 'em... Unless your budget can't manage that.

No effects.

Ok this may be the case, which would change pretty much everything. I will most certainly hit you up.
