Which sub would be better between the two? Which is punchier? Which would be better sounding?

Amp & crossover wise for the Growler, which combination would sound the best?
Thanks guys :)

The Growler is the better sub between the two, it has gone through a number of revisions over the years with the 2010 version being 3db louder then then the model before. The 2012 model is said to have yet another driver revamp with it having an even higher power handling then the 2010 version, how much I can't remember off hand (however anything less then double the previous model isn't really worth noting). The Growler sounds much better (audiophiles use them for home theatres even) , is smaller, weighs in less & is just an all around better sub.

There are a number of amps that work great with the Growler but as for a crossover I would say go for a DSP over a standard crossover since it gives you much more control over your speakers. A DSP can be picked up for around the same as a decent crossover with even some amps coming standard with a built in DSP on the market today.

Growler. The LS is a one note wonder compared.

The Growler sounds much better and if I were to go back to passive equipment it would definitely be the sub I use. I dislike the sound of the LS, It just makes loud booms and is not very musical. The LS800 is very similar sounding to someone with a really loud car audio system driving down your block with the music turned up. The bass you hear as they drive by is very similar to the LS800 in my opinion, it is very loud but there is not much substance or depth to it.

Growlers are great subs, easily the best in the price range.

The LS801P is noticeably louder than the 8001.
