I know one guy sitting at his desk and yelling at his computer won't do anything, but I just wanna see what people think.
Lots of vocal trance tracks lately... LOTS. Please, let's all keep in mind that trance is evolving and changing and avoid a thread about bashing artists that are no longer 'trance'. How about, if Beatport says it's a trance track then it's a trance track.

So, do you think vocal trance is just gonna keep getting bigger and bigger? I am a fan of some tracks that have recently come out but now it seems like everyone is jumping on the bandwagon. For example - good vocal trance track (IMO): Armin and Ana's "Suddenly Summer". At first I didn't like it when I heard it online but when I heard it live at ASOT550 it was something totally different. Uplifting and epic sound. The vocals really help the music. On the other end of the spectrum there lies "Whispers" by Beat Service and Ana Criado again. Beat Service has made some of my favourite tracks, such as "Outsider" and "Charged". So hearing that track made me a little sad on the inside :(

I understand the appeal of vocals in any kind of music... gives the party-goers something to sing rather than just hum or wave their hands and singing along is pretty fun to do. It's here to stay and I don't mind that. But sometimes it'll be very poorly done, and then I'll have to bitch

Want to share some vocal trance gems? One of my faves is Cass Fox - Little Bird (Mike Koglin Rmx) (Often incorrectly labeled as Tiesto - Little Bird because it was on ISOS). From 2:40 - 3:10 I just get goosebumps everywhere.

I'll play. I am a huge Trance listener. I like all sub-genres really, but think that the reason we are seeing a lot of vocal trance is because it is a good mix of modern pop vocals with the EDM bandwagon we are seeing recently.

I specifically like 140 BPM hard trance...usually without vocals. Until I heard this a few years back. Still one of my favorites.

Vocals give trance more play-ability in clubs and by other DJs. I've found that trance with vocals generally works better live and it's easier for the audience to identify with it. Aside from all the crap that was released this year, there were still a few good original vocal tracks over 136bpm. Most were remixes, but the heart of vocal trance has recently slowed down and meshed with progressive house to produce 128-132 tracks. I personally love vocal stuff, and wished a lot of the artists released more of it. I know how hard it is to find a good singer, write good lyrics that complement a song, and have an excellent recording session to put it all together. It's 100 times easier to just sit in your studio and throw down a straight instrumental track, so I give a lot of respect to the producers going out and shooting for vocal versions.

Depends on the vocalist for the trance as to whether I would like it. It's hard to get most people in clubs into stuff that is above 136BPM, especially with no vocals. I feel like a lot of the harder stuff is an acquired taste and I do not know too many people who even know what trance is. Once I get people to start listening they get into it. But it is way easier to get people to listen to something with vocals as opposed to just straight instrumental. I am always open to new styles of trance, therefore, nothing wrong with vocals becoming more prominent.

The quality of trance this past year has been all over the place in my opinion. Some really make the vocals work:

if Beatport says it's a trance track then it's a trance track.

I'm sorry, but Beatport is not the God of genre definition. The top 100 trance section on Beatport probably contains about 50 trance songs (most of which suck anyway). The genre is not defined by one website's categories.

:stupid:

Genre classification on Beatport is like  my big one on there is the like of classification between progressive house and trance. I feel like there is a bigger difference between the two then Beatport does

yeah. i tend not let beatport have the last word on what genre a track is. i mean the tagged "levels" as progressive house :smash:

i wouldn't even call it "trance" just because it gives a bad name to stuff that actually IS trance and i don't want it to be related with it in any shape or form :blank:

Meh... as Sedna said Beatport isn't the god of trance definition but neither are you guys. I just wanted to talk about vocal trance and avoid having this argument.

Another one of my faves with a video! I love trance videos... they only make sense when you're on drugs.

probably my all-time favorite vocal trance track, definitely top5. I listened to it on the beach for the first time over the summer and was completely BLOWN AWAY
