Hello Djforums,

I am deciding on wether i should purchase the Stanton 505. V3 H4 twin pack, which includes the cartridge, stylus, and headshells. They are a bit cheap, but has anyone had experience with them? I am looking to scratch and mix, not sure which Im leaning towards, but both for now.

I also hear the Shure M44-7s are great!

Will they damage vinyl records?

I hear they are for scratching, but what about mixing?

Are there specific needles that go with serato scratch records?

Thanks!

I have used Shures and Ortofons. Shure all the way. Best things I have ever used, if not those go with white labels those are good too.

Thats the word around the block! What are the difference between white labels and m44-7? How is the xone 22 working out for you Synergy? I planned to buy them but still undecided. Good for scratching and mixing?

Never used the Stanton's... But the Shure needles are about as close to an industry standard as it gets. I use them and have never had an issue.

I have used/owned Stanton (505, 680, 890, Trackmaster 2) and Shure M44-7 and Whitelabels before. But I keep ending up with the M44-7. The best all-around cart/needles.

Whitelabel = Concorde style mixing cart
M44-7 = Standard mount scratching cart

I love my 22, some people say they have issue with a bleeding fader, but I have had mine for going on...4 years or so? it is GREAT.

I heard that before. I also wanted to know if Shure M44g cartridge will fit onto a technics headshell. Correct me if im wrong, but the needle/styli, cartridge, and headshell are all bought separately?

Now im a bit confused. I purchase a M44g cartridge. I am now looking for an M44g styli but i keep getting "N44g styli for M44g cartridge" in my results. Is there such a thing as an M44g needle?

Headshells are universal.
Carts come with the needle included.
Needles are sold separately because needles wear out a lot faster then carts wear out.

M44-7H is what you want, comes installed on a technics headshell. BEST purchase ever. Amazon has them sometimes for as low as 60 bucks!
