This is what DJ TechTools are using to stop spammers registering and posting on their site and it seems to work great: -

It works with vBulletin 4.x.x so it should work fine with this site.

I'm sure the Admins can see exactly what it's doing but I see a few threads a day that have been hidden from public view waiting on approval so it's working pretty well. From what I remember Strip had to relax the settings because it was blocking too many legit posts.

With the current settings, it's OT that is getting hit with these bots.

Yeah, it was actually working too well. But still, we get very little spam compared to the old site.

You think? I was banning around 20 spambots a day on v1. Now it's closer to five.

lol maybe its the times then, ive been getting about 5 a day, but i did like 2 or 3 on v1, they must have been doing it more on your time zone before perhaps.

either way, the past few weeks its gone from next to none, to 10 or so a day. the spam filter was lowered because it was blocking some legit things, but it will be turned back up.
