Now that the scorching rooftop season has finally come to an end, the depth of autumn sets in. The focus of the party shifts from sunny days to late nights, and poolside grooves become late night cuts. In celebration of this change, Harmonic is proud to announce the return of the infamous HEAR series on Saturday December 1, in just a slightly different setting as the first time around. In lieu of the big room attendances, several rooms of music, and the sometimes seemingly small army of artists on the bill, will be a more intimate setting with only one headliner showcasing their sound and talents with an all night extended set (6+ hours), allowing the partygoer to organically experience the full effect of their favorite artists are capable of. Besides the caliber of cutting edge music and clientele, one thing will remain the same, which will be residents DELINQUENT FREQUENCY (Jake Patrick & Matthew Derham) opening each excursion, and getting the wheels turning on the party bus known as HEAR. For the eleventh installment of the series, Harmonic will be placing dj/producer SIMON BAKER at the helm. Simon’s solo and collaborative work, as well as his honed skill as a dj help define his reputation as today’s true British talents, and is certainly worthy of an all-night spot behind the decks at HEAR.
Simon has a vast array of acclaimed tracks on labels such as 2020 Vision, Get Physical, Leftroom, Murmur, Playhouse, Connoisseur, and his own label Infant, just to name a few. His move to London this year dramatically expanded his horizons with exposure to new surroundings and sources of inspiration, and produced exciting results in the studio. Simon returned to home label 2020 Vision with the ‘Let Me In’, complete with a Lee Curtiss remix which was a sensation. There was a welcome return to Get Physical with the outstanding ‘Trust’ single, also an EP on label du jour Leftroom which hit the top 10 on Beatport, and collaborations with Robert James on Saved. An appearance on hotly-tipped new UK imprint Fina Records was closely followed. Early in the summer, he mixed Get Physical’s Full Body Workout 9, and also had a release on Sasha’s label Last Night On Earth. Pitching between house, deep house and techno on his debut LP on 2020 Vision last year, ‘Traces’ was greeted unanimously by the electronic community with accolades from Resident Advisor, Mixmag, DJ Mag and Electronic Groove, receiving a 5/5 as ‘Album of the Month’ in DJ Mag and ending up in the former’s ‘Top 20 Albums OF The Year’. His breakthrough release ‘Plastik’ was voted #4 in RA’s prestigious single of the year 2007 poll, and his re-edit of ‘Piano Lessons’ on Foot and Mouth made Mixmag’s best 100 singles of the year in 2010. The remix collaboration with Jamie Jones for Crazy P and the single Way Out Of My Head with Julien Chaptal reached number 5 and 11 respectively in the itunes best dance remixes of the year 2009.
On top of an extensive world tour, Simon is also a regular fixture at the BPM festival in Mexico, Kehakuma at Space in Ibiza, Fabric in London, not to mention a staple of the many air london showcases in Miami, Paris, Barcelona and Ibiza. In the months to come he looks to add to his mindboggling back-catalogue with a plethora of releases and collaborations on some of today’s hottest imprints.
