djay (http://www.algoriddim.com/djay-iphone) for iPhone and iPod touch looks like a solid app, because it has "Automix" you can just set it and let it DJ from your playlists and walk away. Anyone else have any good DJ apps that require minimal interaction? What about just the built-in iPod app? That's probably good to go right?

If I have my laptop: iTunes, or let Traktor do its auto mix thing which is probably useless
If I don't have my laptop: Google music on my phone

I just use Pandora. Just be ready to jump on the mic and kill the volume when the ads come on. If you're good you can play it off pretty well. That's what separates the men from the boys when it comes to mobile DJs

I usually just bring my transistor radio and change the station when a commercial comes on.

Forgive me, but as well as an Application/Program may do at mixing, it in no way can "read the crowd", one of the most underestimated talents in a DJ IMO. I do however understand that some events can run perfectly smoothly with a pre-set list of songs played in a specific order.

Whats so funny about what I said? Do you disagree? Like I said, some events I agree with such as a Corporate Event. Weddings however I find to be a different story, except for perhaps the arrival and dinner portions.

I use dJay on my iPad, it's wonderful, though you could just create an iTunes playlist and do the same thing if you're talking minimal effort.

I second this. Djay is probably the best app for that, but it's no substitute for some real equipment.

You know, if it's like a small, short ceremony or something, and you just need basic mixing capabilities, like fading from one song into another, then it's perfect.

Like I said, not recommended for a longer event, it's really more like a "toy" app.
