I currently have a djm-700 - which i love - but getting a little bored of it. Want to spend something in the price range of a djm 900, would like it to have effects, just so i dont have to get something external. I use rekordbox so the 900 seems highly appetizing, but wanted to see if you guys had any other recommendations for me to at least look at before buying? A&H is the only other i can think of honestly.

I would recommend the Allan & Heath DB4, My previous mixer was a DJM 900 and to be honest its nothing special.

Have also owned the DJM 2000 & DJM 800, The DB4 blows all of them away!

I would like to read a comparison if you have the time. FWIW, I loved the DB4 when I tried it, but disliked the DJM-2000. I like the 900, but it's kind of just more of the same.

By most accounts, the 900 is just an 800 with 2 or 3 new bells and whistles. The db4, however, is a completely different beast altogether and one that I plan on tackling after my 800 goes tits up (and not before).

Yes this is bang on! The Djm 2000 is full of gimmicks, the screen sucks and never gets used most of the time. The djm 900 is better than the 2000, its feels more solid and is easier to get the most from the EFX but for the money not a huge improvement over the 800.

The DB4 has fantastic sound quality, studio EFX, Loppers on each channel and as the recent firmware shows Allan & Heath are trying very hard to make sure its still the best money can buy.

Yes the db4 is amazing for sure, but is it really worth the price difference from the 900? The db4 almost looks confusing, while the 900 is nice and intuitive. I also like that I can quantize with rekordbox with it.

It seems the general consensus is either the 900 or the db4 though. So those will be the two I look into. Any other suggestions, or are those the only two I should be looking at in this price range?

Alternatives to the DJM-900? Denon DN-X1600/X1700 or the Allan & Heath DB4 ;)

You could also look into the AH DB2 if you are looking for something in the djm 900 price range.

I just got my DB4 in and I can honestly say it doesn't disappoint!! The fx are quality and the filters are nice and smooth.. Basically all the hype was true this time, IMO.

Comes down to budget and/or how long you are willing to save up.
