Hi Guys,

I just got a brand new Tascam XS4 on ebay for a great deal (90$). I had some Rane TTM knobs that I put on the mixer so it looks and sounds great. Here is my problem, The line faders have a horrible curve for mixing. For scratching it works great but I like to play house as well as hip hop and the curve is super harsh. So I come to my question: Is there a way to adjust the channel fader curve on this mixer? Can I replace the faders or maybe mod a few adjustment knobs somewhere?

Right now I am using my S4 as a mixer for my decks but would love to eventually use the Tascam and maybe even mod an audio 4 into it. I am fairly tech savvy and not afraid to take this beast apart if I need to.

Thanks for the help! I'm glad to see this community back.

Have you checked Innofader yet? They have crossfaders/line faders available for replacement for different mixers. The Tascam XS-4 is included in their list. :)

I did see the innofader but spending the loot on three of those would be equal to better mix.

Does the curve come from the fader itself or is it built into the.mixerss circuitry?

Thanks again!

The curve comes with the fader and can be adjusted to your desired setting.

I checked the Innofader site, unless I'm reading it wrong, the XS4 can only take an Innofader in the crossfader position.

Thanks DTR. So I guess that brings me back to the drawing board...Any suggestions?

Does anyone know if fader curve comes from faders or is it in the mixer circuitry? I saw some ecler replacement faders that would work but I'm not sure if they will have the same curve.

Thanks again guys.

I looked into this at one point, basically you can change the curve of a potentiometer by adding a resistor between the wiper and ground.
