The DJF Thre3style Tournament

So 3style 2012 season has already started in some parts of the world, so Juxtaposer had the idea to get a tournament going for this community.

REGISTRATION NOW CLOSED

As per Red Bull, the competition goes as follows:


The rules of Thre3Style ensure that the competition is a perfect marriage of technical DJing and party rocking prowess. Participants have to play a selection of three genres or styles of music in 15 minutes. It doesn't matter what genres of music are chosen so long as the DJ can make them work together on the 1's and 2's. The participating DJs are judged on their track-selection, technical skills, creativity and most importantly their ability to bring the house down. It doesn't matter if they know all the DJing tricks and techniques in the book, if they can't get the feet on the dancefloor and hands in the air, they don’t stand a chance of winning a Red Bull Thre3Style battle.

- 15 minutes
- Video & Audio recordings required (post to vimeo/youtube)
- Include at least 3 DIFFERENT genres of your choice, but would be able to rock any mainstream crowd (aka, get fucking creative!)
- Turntables and/or CDJs permitted w/ your choice of accompanying DVS and controllers (if you choose to use them).
- Solo MIDI controllers are not permitted. You must use CDJs or turntables as your primary mixing tools.

So pending how many entries we get in the next few days will determine the setup of the tournament. But if we can get a few people from different countries maybe we can have an international structure, ending with a 'world champ'.

Standard DJF battle voting would go down. When additional rounds happen, it's up to you how much you want to alter your next set. Of course, the more you change it, the more refreshing for those that are voting.

Get involved mate. This isn't some huge championship thing, the main reason I came up with this idea in the first place was to get some solid practice for this year's Thre3style event. Don't be shy.

I may not be able to participate because I do not have a suitable video camera and all my USB ports get taken up by my audio card and x1 so I can't even use an external webcam. If I can find one I'll let you know. I've been asking around.

I'm probably just gonna set my iPhone up recording video the mixer/decks and then sync the audio with the video afterwards. The reason for the video is to record the decks/mixer so we can see what you're doing, technically - right?

Yea actually I could do this, so that there's a better view of what I'm doing. I'll just use my iphone to record.

yeah u don't need to use a webcam. literally anything that records video will work. just sync up the audio and video in Movie Maker or iMovie afterwards.

Nah, seriously man, don't worry about it. I think I spent more time trying to edit and upload the video than I did working out/recording the routine! There are a couple of horrible errors in there actually, I just figured you only get one chance in the real thing so might as well just go with it. It's just a bit of practice/fun anyway :)

Mine is uploading as we speak. I finished it last night, but imovie was giving me shit last night as well. I was up til 4am and passed out trying to get it to work. Had to outsource my video to my friend to get it working haha. Don't judge me too harshly guys. Now that I think of it....hopefully I covered 3 genres LOL
