This is what I think of them!

As of about 2 years that I owned the HDJ-1000. They have been great for me. They sound really good and they look great. I like the style! And for the quality and workmanship have been overall good and reliable.... But and there is a but.

The hinge broke on one side. It's made of cheap plastic. But it's not so much whether the plastic is cheap or not. It's how they "constructed" the part. It's very prone to break in that perfect spot with the stress that part undergoes when stretching the headphones to put on your head.

And another thing that would be nice would make a volume control for each individual ear. But it does not seem like any headphones have that feature these days. Because I had a pair of headphones that had individual volume control feature before, that was nice. But anyway this is the picture of how I fixed the broken hinge.

This is a guaranteed fix BTW

Nice fix! If you did that on both sides and painted it silver, it would look better than original IMO.

i had a pair of these for about 1 week and the hinge went. so i sent them back and upgraded to hdj 2000. expensive i know but i've now had them nearly 3 years no problem at all.
the way i looked at it was that i'm always buying headphone due the hinge breaking or something else snapping off. this dealt with all these problems.

I had two pairs and the hinge broke on both of them. I used electrical tape as a quick fix, but maybe I'll dig them out and try your fix. I have since upgraded to HDJ-2000s and they're much better in every way.
