I am a new mobile dj just starting up. I have always bought cds or just bought songs off of itunes. i recently found out about the amazing worl dof dj pools. do these monthly subscriptions mean that your downloading these songs to your computer and you get to keep them for life? Or meant to be as "rentals"?

You get to keep them permanently (with most of the pools)

i12inch.com , franchiserecordpool.com ..... For the most part you keep them for life. Unless its specifies otherwise on the website it's definitely permanent ownership. You get offered music that otherwise wouldn't be offered on consumer music websites like itunes and rhapsody. Check out beatport as well for some awesome house and other electronic genre tracks.

Yes you can keep them, at least I have never heard otherwise. I myself use zipDJ.com, and it is very good.

With physical pools there used to be in the contract that the pool could request the records or CDs back, but I've never heard of anybody that had to send any back. With digital formats it's difficult to do that, so I bet it's safe to say they are to keep. It could be they take the downloads down from the site after a while, which will only affect members who haven't downloaded a certain track yet.
