I have an MC6000 and love it. At first it felt a little cramped but i got used to it. I doubt you will have issues finding traktor mappings for it (i do my own anyway).
The standalone mixer and booth outputs are also a big plus.
With the S4 you get a free copy of traktor pro (but if you already have one its not an issue).
You could also look into the Reloop Jockey.

do you guys have music stores with this type of equipment in Brazil? hands on would be the best way to really decide.

The S4 all the way. The Denon was built so that you could use it for anything... the problem is that there is not as much emphasis on making the controller specific for one DVS or form of software. The S4 was made to be used with the new Traktor 2 software and has a high definition data transfer protocol that is faster than other standard controllers.

...and has a high definition data transfer protocol that is faster than other standard controllers.
Not sure that's quite accurate. Faster HOW? Does it travel down the USB bus faster than other similar controllers?
Don't just accept marketing as fact. This is why we can't have nice things.

Just filling in the gaps for most readers. Nems knows this and more.
The S4 - in the native Traktor setting - uses MIDI over USB (at standard MIDI speed) and HID for the platter and fader control.
The Denon - if what I've read is correct - uses MIDI over USB with the ability to go at full speed of USB 2.0 (which is NOT standard MIDI, BTW) for platter and fader tracking.
The hangup with all of these high-performance implementations (S4, Denon, ITCH, etc.) is that they are ALL semi-proprietary and thus must be directly supported by each DJ app. This isn't a problem for ITCH and ITCH hardware. It's not a problem for Traktor and the S4 and S2. Unfortunately, Denon doesn't make DJ apps - so support so far is limited to VirtualDJ for native high-performance.
On the other side of things. Most controllers (ITCH hardware being the exception) include a "standard MIDI" mode that is intended to allow use with competitor's DJ apps. Note that standard MIDI is seen as too slow to allow the tight/high-performance control of platters and faders - thus the other semi-proprietary solutions.
The true solution is supposedly MIDI 2.0 aka HD-MIDI, but the spec for that will supposedly be released in late 2012... with products to be released later...

for practical reasons standalone mixer functionality on the MC6000 is the game winner in my opinion
simply because it allows integration of other devices, ipods, turntables cd players
and potentially save the day in the event of a computer issue
PS: they ship the MC6000 with traktor in europe dont they? so i would be very surprised if the mapping is not right on it from the off

for the users that have the mc6000, how is the platter performance as far as scratching, catching the beat...etc... I have the MC3000 & the S4 and the platter control is like night and day...the mc3000 has a lot of latency but the s4 is spot on.. due to the most part that the S4 is native to traktor... I was just wondering if the MC6000 was any different...

to be honest i also experience some latency with the wheels on the mc6000,
but i have hardly tried it, i have never liked static wheels for that, cant comment on the S4
i use two denon 3700 for that
however the wheels are weighted nicely in my opinion, for the size of them they have the correct weight and resistence for beatmatching comfortably, first controller i have ever liked in this regard
It completely depends on what you're looking to use it for. They're both quality pieces. They both have pros over each other, some more specific than what you've mentioned. My housemate has the denon, and a good friend of mine has the S4. I have considerable experience with both.
Denon pros:
- Metal body
- Nicer faders
- XLR outs
- Standalone mixer capability
- Compatibility w. other software besides traktor
- Far nicer platters (in feel)
- Better cue pt section
S4 pros:
- Individual channel filters
- Better looping
- Higher compatibility with Traktor (samples ect.)
- More spacious layout
- Slightly better platter response
For me, I'd choose the denon for the few things I mentioned. The S4 is undoubtably a product that suits certain audiences, though. The pros of the s4 are mostly things that are implemented better by NI. The pros of the denon are key components that are simply left out (like xlr or external mixing).
Anyone who says OMG DEFINITELY THE DENON, or, ZOMG S4, is a fanboy. Choose based on what you want to get of of the product.
