Hey, I want to split the audio on my MacBook Air to record some DJ sets and been looking on some cables.
Can you please tell me what ones would work successfully?

1) 3.5mm Stereo to 2 Mono Splitter (http://www.maplin.co.uk/3.5mm-stereo-to-2-mono-splitter-43086)
2) 3.5mm Stereo Plug to Two 3.5mm Mono Sockets Adaptor (http://www.maplin.co.uk/3.5mm-stereo-plug-to-two-3.5mm-mono-socketsadaptor-1215)

Thanks.

I'm sorry I don't understand. What are you connecting to what?

I am connecting one of the above audio splitter's to the headphone jack in my laptop so that it will allow me to split audio down the headphone and the other side down the speaker in order for me to cue the next song.

It looks like you want the first one. Eventually your are going to want to get something like an NI audio 2 soundcard.

You can do it.. cause I am pretty sure that Traktor has a mode which uses one channel for the mix and one channel for headphones. You don't just plug in the adapter, you also then have to change the settings in the software.

BUT.. what is gonna happen is that you will only have one ear in the headphones.. mono, not stereo. If you get the right adapter you'll get both ears, but they will both be the same.. still mono. Same thing with the speakers.. you get mono. If you record from that output, your recording will also be mono.

So yea, as DJ Highline said, you will ultimately want to get a DJ soundcard. The NI audio 2 is small and effective.. costs like 100-150 new I believe. You can get a used M-Audio Fast Track Pro for 50-80 on ebay.
