Getting back into scratching after a long time & starting over all from scratch with new equipment. Have a couple of hundred bucks to purchase some vinyl to practice with. One record I plan on getting is Super Seal but not sure what else to purchase. Looking for some vinyl with really good hip hop beats that I can practice scratching to. I'll have to order online because there really isn't anything local to me to purchase from. What records do you fellas recommend?

Thanks!

A good place to start would be www.thudrumble.com. They have all the Dirt Style records and carry records from D-styles, Swamp and DJ Quest among others.

For samples to cut, I would recommend the new super seal 4d. It's is a double vinyl pressing with skipless scratches across both. Also for beats one of the best routes would be flash loopers like Neks stated above. But if you’re still looking for scratch beats on vinyl the Scratchers delight series may have some beats you like. Another good thing about thud rumble is they have previews of the vinyl online to help you make your selections.

superseal's def the classic... still my fav from dirtstyle I think. Also look into Scratch Science records, they're out of France, but they're the ones making the best scratch records these days. Gotta order em online though.

What is flash loopers?

They're little beat playing programs that people make. They're made in flash and usually have at least 5-10 beats up to like 70-80 beats that loop infinitely so you can scratch without having to restart the beat.

www.yourlooper.com has the biggest archive of them. If you're on windows they should work right away, if you're using mac you'll need elmedia player and need to configure a few things so that they play properly. Also you need a computer near your setup obviously.

For neverending practice beats I use Neverending Breakbeats vols 1 and 2 compiled by DJ Swamp.
