How does the strobe compare to a traditional strobe light? I haven't been impressed with traditional LED fixtures being used as strobes... Too bad you can't really pick up the effect on camera ha.

These, and the QWH5s, are the first LED lights that can strobe like crazy. Not only can you strobe superfast, but you can also alternate between the LEDs for an even faster strobe effect.

Might have to check them out... They're crazy cheap, too! A bunch of those 16's would look good across 20 feet of truss!

We're running a special on them.

I don't really see a a need for these in the mobile DJ world.

Perhaps if you specifically needed strobe lights for an occasion, they look as if they would fit the bill quite nicely.

However, since all of my LED lights are capable of strobing (and as are many others), it would just add additional (wasted) time to my setup and tear down.

To me, it would personally just be more of an inconvenience than a benefit, as my wash lights are capable of producing the same effect. But that is just IMO.

Nice Review Nevertheless.

I thought the same, too.. until I needed to flood an 18x18 wrestling ring with EVEN white light and perfectly timed strobes.

I have yet to see a wash light that can produce an adequete "strobe" effect that looks like the Xenon bulbs. They can "flash" but not truly "strobe" if that makes sense. Hence my interest in these. It looks like these use a different type of LED as well.

Can you elaborate on the difference? I'm sort of in the same mindset as far as not being able to tell the difference.

I'm no expert as to why, but with a true strobe effect, you can turn off or dim all the lights, turn on the strobes, and any motion you see looks "choppy." They look very intense, which is why they're so great during buildups.

But even the concert-grade wash lights I've seen can't pull this off. Every concert I've been to that uses LED wash lighting also uses dedicated xenon strobes.

LED's don't dim, they use pulse width modulation, hence why a strobing effect is hard to achieve. However, these strobe as good, if not better, than the QWH5s.

here's a middle school event with only two. They strobe so fast the camera can't see them, (6:33 was strobing stupid fast); but look at 9:22.. that's a medium speed.
