Using my NS6, I can set the curve on the upfaders to be very quick like the crossfader. While I am still in the infancy stage of any type of scratching ability, is there any con to using the upfader compared to the crossfader?

I feel MUCH more comfortable going 'up and down' compared to left/right. I feel I need to have the crossfader reversed to be natural with scratching with it, but because its not a huge part of my sets I dont want to have it reversed for normal sets.

The only thing I can think of is wear and tear on the upfader v. the crossfader which is set to handle it better.

The main disadvantage is that obviously that fader is only controlling one channel, so it's more limiting as part of the bigger picture (trick mixing, battle routines and what have you).

I have seen many dj's use this. It is another tool/weapon. It allows you to mess with one source at a time. They wouldn't put curve adjusters on the faders if they weren't meant to be used that way.
