I've had a long, weird journey that has lead up to tonight. I first purchased gear years ago to try and overcome self-esteem issues as crazy as that sounds. At the time I was very obese and wanted to fit in, so I wanted to DJ.....but as everyone here knows, without a passion for music, you don't make it in this business....so I stopped after a few months. I then developed a passion for working out. My problem was, I couldn't find music that motivated me at the gym.....that is until I heard the song Find Yourself by John O'Callaghan. This was my first introduction to EDM music and I instantly fell in love. After listening to all the EDM I could find, I decided I want to DJ to share this amazing music with as many people as I could.....funny, I had gear before I truly wanted to DJ. Now for the past 6 months, 110 lbs later, I have been putting together as many mixes as I can across different genres. I have played at a few very, very small house parties, but tonight will be my first time playing in front of a crowd. We're throwing a black light party with a few kegs and are expecting quite a bit of people. I'm not here to ask for advice, because I know that once the first track starts I will forget everything you guys said and just be in the moment, I simply wanted to post to share this experience with you guys because DJF 1.0 was great for me even before I had a passion for this.
