I think a better way to approach stickies is to have a well organised "index" type sticky that has links to other useful threads, rather than just pinning all of those useful threads.

For instance, on my site we have separate threads for people to share usernames for Facebook, Twitter, SoundCloud, Mixcloud, Mixcrate etc. and people wanted them pinning, but instead of pinning them all, I just made a thread with links to those threads in it and pinned that instead: -
