^Right on. I've had this on constant rotation because each time I listen I keep hearing more amazing demos. Some of this stuff is SOOO raw sounding, I love that shit. There's a Beasties Demo on this that's super short that'll knock yer socks off.

The logistical nightmare of mixing 3 hours of demos from every source you can think of is a real problem, but he did amazingly well. The volume is a bit high in some places so I applied Sony's wave hammer plugin to it and it levelled out nicely so I wasn't adjusting the volume as much, but other then that this shit is historical and should be enjoyed by everyone here who makes time for it.

There are some "free" mixes that are worth downloading, this one ranks among the best I've heard in years. I hate this word, but it is what it is... Epic.

I imagine he pulled a portion of these tracks off cassette tapes, which brought up a question for me. What is the shelf life of a cassette tape? I have a shoe box full of old mixes and albums from the late 80's and early 90's that I haven’t broken out in years. They’re in a cool dark environment but I'm still curious if the actual tape will lose quality thus affecting the audio quality of the recording? I've been lazy for the past couple years saying I'm going to digitize my collection but haven't. Knowing that I might lose a lot of my cassette collection may kick my ass in gear to convert them.

Yeah, a lot of them are old tapes absolutely, you can tell because after playing em too many times they get that flooded bass and muffled sound, but I think that only enhances the realness factor of this mixtape. Brings me way back. Tapes have a long shelf life as long as they are in the right environment, cool dark and damp like a basement. Like records, they can last a long time it just depends on how the owner cares for them. Records will last indefinitely if stored properly.

Sweet, good to know... and I agree that flooded muffled sound has an appeal in right setting, this being one of them. Thanks again for the link and info.
