Okay, So I got into a bet with my mate that if I can make a Dubstep remix of Taylor Swift - Both Of Us that is bearable and good, Hell give me $50  Soooooo, me being the fucked up kid I am, I accept the challenge. So far its coming along pretty good (At least I think it is) However im having a few problems and road blocks :S Im hoping you guys can help me get me my $50 as im a hurtin white nigga :3 Aha

Problem's im seeing is

The transitions from like into to breakdown and a problem that will happen again at the end of the piece linked going into a 2nd breakdown and probably again at some point seem awkward, I need some uplifters and shit but my normal white noise and filters aint cutting it, so what kinda ideas you got? Tried some like rising pitch supersaws and bubbling noises but not feeling it. Ideas? :)

Another problem I have is just the lead I have in the breakdown seems empty and I want to put something else there too, Not sure what though, Once again, tried a few things (plucks and bells) and wasn't feeling it so....Ideas? :)

What im thinking for the track is where i leave it off in the clip provided, i want another breakdown, with no vocals (which is why i need more to it than just the lead i have as mentioned above) and have a drop (full of all that bowowww pew pew pew screeches and all that brostep fun) unlike the first one, no vocals on this drop and go back into the first drop from that after 32 bars of that. Then the outro. Just having a problems piecing it all together that's all :(

Also please, any other comments and ideas to help me out here or just anything please let me know :) Just go ham guys.

Here is what I have so far: http://soundcloud.com/james-tektonix/taylor-switft-both-of-us

(Im aware levels and EQ's are way way off, I will fix this obviously, this is just literally quick exported as a general idea)

Well for starters, I'd bring down the breakdown more, and put a downward sweep when it first hits to make the track feel like it's coming down more. Maybe automate the melody in the breakdown a bit more so it is getting louder/changing in some way as the drop gets closer.

The drop is fine as is, but I see what you mean that it could feel awkward. You could always try putting sweeps in there as you are fading into the drop but then after the sweeps reach their peak, let them reverb out for like a bar while you have a reverse reverbed version of the vocals getting louder into that "uh" sample you got in there. So it kinda releases the tension while building more which is then released by the main part there 55 seconds in.

Sounds good though man, reminds me a lot of some Adventure Club tracks. I like your synths after the drop, what did you use for those?

why don't you just do a break down // silence to lyrics(main phrase) and then pop your dubstep riff in with the lyrics cut and sampled.

As the mix sits it isn't bad, need more dub in the step, maybe some moans and groans to be a true dubstep track :p

*edit beyond this point*
reverse your lyrics and put some heavy reverb on it and overlay it to your vocals, if done properly it makes an awesome echoe noise, even a double auto filter sweep could be cool.. and from there you can export a portion of the automated that you like and sneak it in as your lead....

maybe compress and sidechain your white noise at an offbeat of your kick//1beatbefore it hits//(a disabled audio channel) to create a good sway.

seems you got some good points here. nothing really except to add some edits into it. by that just in timed random spot drop one sound out might be subtle to you but big to someone listening to it. also try doing a stall like you would on a turntable for the vocals going into the drop or breakdown. dont really know what you are using but its easy to do that in ableton. double up some of the vocals like beatjuggling might add some flare as well to it. just my 2 non producer cents lol. good luck broski hope ya get dat feddi!
