Okay I'm looking to buy a generator...
Off the record, I want to have it for my house, as we lose power several times a year. I want to be able to power up my fridge, my boiler/pump in winter, few lights, TV, and maybe a small window AC in the summer. I think 3000 Watts is ideal, but maybe I can get away with 2000 W? FYI 2000W model is really rated for 1600Watts (13 amps). Note: I will NOT be running everything at the same time. Biggest load is probably the AC unit and fridge at the same time.
I also want an inverter type... as I will want the ability to use for DJ work. I want it lightweight, compact, and quiet, as well as dependable. (If Uncle Sam asks, It will be used for 100% DJ work, I will just "exercise" it when the lights go out at home)
I hear Honda EU is the name here.
Any others? Emphasis on reliability here! I don't want someone's used RV Onan! Do you think I NEED 3000 Watts? Cause they are MUCH more expensive as well as larger and heavier!
If I use a generator for DJ work, it will not be for a large setup...
What would you charge to bring a generator? $100? $200... don't forget that I need to charge them for the gas.
Also... what do you think about selling an "insurance" policy... like for an extra $50, I bring the generator in case the power goes out in a thunderstorm... Or maybe just bring it anyway, leave it in the car, and if the power goes out I can charge them $200 to keep the party going? Or maybe just do it for free and be the "hero" who saved the wedding.
