It feels good to be back - I have not got a chance to post anything since DF 2.0 came online so I though I would start off with something you may not have played with yet. If you have not had a go on a pair of Beyerdynamic DT1350 then I can confirm that they are literally amazing. They isolate better than almost any other headphones I have tried, they have crystal clear sound and the bass is bottomless.

Any way... Enough about how good the sound or how well they are made - lets pull apart possibly the most expensive DJ headphones on the market ;)

Stage one – I removed the pads, they are held on with double sided tape so you just need to pull them firmly and carefully and they will come off

Stage 2 – Removing the drivers.
This is the bit that took a bit of bravery and head scratching to figure out Turns out they are just clipped into the housing a bit like the DT770 – there is a tiny gap which you can get a pry tool or screw driver in to leaver it up – it will eventually POP and then it comes out easily

Stage 3 – Unsoldering the cables.
If I have to explain this you probably should not be trying this LOL but inside you can see they went for a three core cable – there is a board they attach to with 4 tracks and 2 of them have a solder bridge to link the ground wires. When I re-wire them I will remove the solder bridge and make a 4 core braided cable and remove the solder bridge to give them separate ground wires down to the jack.

Stage 4 – Unclip the earcups from the yoke
This is pretty straight forward, The yoke has a bit of spring in it and with the drivers out the earcup flexes a bit and you just need to pull out the lugs to unclip it

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/s720x720/528108_10150903925416176_386738390_n.jpg

Stage 5 – Removing the cable
These is a metal staple type thing inside the earcup – pull it out by inserting a screwdriver and levering it up and the cable will be released

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s720x720/487890_10150903925486176_951107994_n.jpg

Stage 6 – the fiddly bits
Inside the earcup the wires connecting the left and right is held in place with a crimped brassy ring of metal – you need to open that out using a thin blade to release the cable and the rubber strain relief buts can be pulled out of the holes from the inside of the cup using some pliers.

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/s720x720/602376_10150903925546176_1461672558_n.jpg

Stage 7 – Removing the yoke from the headband.
These are held in by the plastic stoppers on the ends – I levered up the two plastic clips with a scalpel blade and then wiggled them off – than pull the yoke through

Finally I removed the rubber covers from the headband which have the cable running through. – The only bit I have not yet figured out is how to get the hinges apart – IF ANYONE HAS FIGURED THIS OUT LET ME KNOW

And here is what I did to them

Yeh they are quite new - they use the same tesla technology in these they developed for the £900 T1 headphones so they have loads of detail across the range. As soon as I get round to becoming a member of the trade on DF again I will have to arrange some sort of special deal for members as I am negotiating with beyerdynamic to get them for a better price

Cool as! I have been wanting to hear what a pair of these sound like for a while now. Obviously, Beyer have a load of good things to say about them, and that's grabbed my interest.

They are pretty amazing - The only thing some people dont like it that they are not very bass heavy - they have loads of detail in the bass and drop down incredibly low. You hear detail you did not know was there before but you don't get that boom you get with most closed back headphones.

Great, I'm not into bass heaviness. Detail is king for me.

I'v sorted out becoming a vendor on DJF now and a big box of DT1350s and DT770s just arrived so if you want a pair just let me know - I can do v-special pricing on them for DJs if you are willing to write a little feedback on them

Hey!
Awesome job, dude! Looks stunning, both of them!
I was looking up at internet to see anyone who had opened these headphones, cuz turns out that i have them opened, but i did it accidentally (fell from desk).
There is a picture of how it looks like right now, but the problem is that I couldn't find a way put them back.
I would like to ask you how did you put them back? Did you used Super Bonder or something like that?
I tried to see if it fits with a "click" sound, tried to spin it all over the case, but doesn't fits.
I was going to use Super Bonder, once i don't have much time and i use them a lot, but is there any right angle/rotation to put it back or should I just use the bonder?
Let's say i am afraid of messing it up, cuz i live in brazil and there is no dt1350's here hahahaha. My friend brought them from us.

Thanks!

From what JFunk says earlier in this thread, the drivers are clipped in. However, I'm guessing that the ear-pad may be obstructing you getting the driver in, so you might try pulling the ear-pad off the driver first.

Nice phones BTW! How are you liking them?

Your work and quality of finish seem better than ever, really nice shadowing on these..

As Phil said... They clip back in but you may have to remove the pad from the driver to get it back in. If you look carefully at the driver and the earcup they have notched that need to be matched up then press firmly on the outer edge of the driver and it should pop in to place
